"Birdie", is a golf term, meaning a score of one stroke under Par and all golfers are proud of scoring them, to the extent they look forward to rewarding themselves with their favourite "juice" for scoring a birdie. The term "Birdie" comes from the early 20th century American slang term "bird", meaning anything excellent. The September 1911 edition of Maclean Magazine described a golf shot as - '"bird" straight down the course, about two hundred and fifteen yards.'
Hip flasks have been around for a long, long time and they are small containers for holding hard liquor and carrying it around in your pocket conveniently. Fill your flask with your favourite drink - Whiskey, Bourbon, Rum, Gin, Brandy (Cognac, Armagnac) - your favourite "juice". Lower alcohol beverages such as beer or wine don't keep well in a flask, nor do cocktails, cream liqueurs, or citrus-based liquids. They will deteriorate or mix badly with the flask material so avoid putting them in the flask.
This can be an ideal small & affordable gift for a proud golfer who loves his "birdie juice" !
